Our mission
"To translate the aspirations, dreams, and wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions into tangible real encounters and fulfilling memorable experiences."
Our objectives

What we set out to do

These six goals have guided us since day one. They're the reason we do what we do.

toRender

service to children in Barbados living with life-threatening illnesses, so their special wishes come true.

toBuild

warm, caring friendships where children can feel the peace, joy and happiness of life.

toPromote

a loving nation without prejudice, brightening the lives of sick children whatever their race, colour, class or creed.

toGive

children and their families the support, hope and strength to keep going through treatment.

toDevelop

public awareness through outreach that makes life better for seriously ill children.

toCreate

lasting friendships with other charities and health care facilities that care for sick children.

Our history

How we got started

A TV movie that stuck with us

"A Child's Wish" aired on Lifetime Television. It told the story of a little girl with cancer who wished to meet the US President. It moved our founders so much that they decided Barbados needed something similar.

We officially launched at the Divi Southwinds Hotel in St. Lawrence, Christ Church.

Our very first wish

Tamika was nine and fighting leukaemia, and she wished to be a doctor. For four hours she wore her own white coat and stethoscope and checked heartbeats on the children's ward with consultant paediatrician Dr. Angela Jennings.

Still at it

More than 16 years later, we're still granting wishes with the help of our volunteers, donors and wish partners.

How we grant wishes

Once a child tells us their wish, our team gets to work.

First, a doctor confirms the child's illness. Then the child picks their wish, we approve it, and we take care of the planning from there.

Where your money goes

Your donation goes straight to a wish

We keep it simple. Donations pay for wishes, and our own fundraising events cover everything else we do.

Refer a child

Do you know a child who could use a wish?

If they're between 2 and 16 and living with a life-threatening illness, we'd love to hear about them. Getting started is easy.

  • Parents, doctors, nurses and social workers can all refer
  • It only takes a few minutes
  • Medical details are kept private
